Those of you who know me are aware that I'm not too eloquent when trying to tell people about myself but here goes.

The X Files first aired in the UK on 19th September 1994.  I was almost 13 and after moving schools two years prior was still trying to find my place.  I was not a popular kid.  I had a different accent, hadn't made the journey to high school with a group of friends and then made the “mistake” in my first year of standing up to some bullies in the popular crowd picking on a smaller kid in my class.   I was an outsider, with no route in.

My dad at the time still vetted my TV viewing and had recorded the show to make sure it was acceptable viewing, thankfully he agreed I could watch it and I started a 20 year love affair with a show and characters that I would lean on during the best and worst moments of my life. Mulder taught me that it was OK not to be the popular kid, that standing up for what's right is sometimes more important and the friends that count will accept you for who you are.   Scully taught me that it was OK to be a girl who was into science, something that was the boy’s domain in my high school. She gave me the strength to go into interviews, meetings, public speaking and to claw my way back from depression after a harsh break up.  The characters taught me that love was complicated and involved a meeting of minds.

I'm also immensely grateful that the fandom has granted me friendship and allowed me to connect with others of a similar mind-set.  You guys are great!
Anyway, on with Part 1 of today’s offering.

I’ve been reading TV Mouse’s reviews of the M&S relationship.  And although I’m not a day 1 shipper, although there was chemistry there I’m more of movie/season 6 shipper (aside from fanfic)
This Vid includes all the Season 1 moments.

Hope you enjoy it, I’m off to watch EBE :)

That's a very tumblr-esque analysis of season one. It's fun to watch new folks come into the fandom. It reminded me a little bit of this post from back in the day: Relationship Episode Guide to the X-Files.

Your vid beautifully complements her blog post.

I know I always say I'm a noromo but hey, it's a canon ship. I write it, I read it, end of story.

Your season one shipper post reminded me of something. I always thought that the most opportune moment for them to get together as a romantic couple would have been after the X-Files were shut down, at the end of season one, or perhaps the beginning of season two. They were no longer partners or even working together. Nothing truly terrible has happened yet to Scully, which is a key thing for me. I always wondered why no one wrote this as an AU. But I suppose people were writing shippy fic where M&S get together without calling it an AU so it never occurred to anyone that there was a need for it.

I guess Syntax6 wrote a version of it, but she had Ethan there as a complication. Then her abduction gave Scully amnesia, which effectively hit the reset button, so that not really the same thing as I want. And Marasmus wrote a snippet set in Arecibo, too, but it didn't lead to a romantic relationship either.

I should add this to the prompts post.

But I just went back and reread my comments on "Little Green Men" from the mini-rewatch at the book club and found this gem:

"Shippers started screaming for romance. Carter was deaf. He was right."

As early as first season? I'm still not seeing it. I think Scully is a sister substitute for him at this point, and I think he's still in denial about how truly important she'd become to him during the time that they'd worked together. But the scene at the end is tender and sweet, but the feelings on her side come off as maternal to me, not romantic.

Obviously what I want varies with my mood. Or something. Because I agree with this, too, unsurprisingly since I wrote it. The sentences in quotes are EC's.

How many times was that? Darn, guess I'll have to watch it again.

Lovely, sweet, predictive moments.

I haven't taken the time to read TV Mouse's review, but I can see how all these 'moments' could be shipper fodder. The chemistry between GA & DD is undeniable even at such an early stage and I guess this is what shines through and drove the shippers wild. I was a die hard noromo until the movie (and no it wasn't the hallway scene that did it for me, it was the fact that Mulder removed a tube from her throat, wrapped her in his outer coat and gave her HIS SOCKS. FTF - tis all about the socks, darling.) I thought Mulder and Scully involved romantically would be a HUGE mistake (and it was) but even I could not deny that these two - when in close proximity - looked like they were born to rip the clothes off each other.

Anyway, lovely vid, dear. What's the music piece?
