Yet another less-than-a-classic episode, and probably my least favourite episode of the season (due to the dississive way that it deals with rape). Not even Teryl Rothery, who played Dr. Fraser on Stargate, can save it.

Writer: Paul Brown
Director: Stephen Surjik
Originally aired: December 16, 1994

Synopsis:
Mulder and Scully investigate a case where a nurse at a nursing home has sexually assaulted by an invisible entity who she claims is one of the home's elderly residents.

Most Memorable Quote:
Mulder: Whatever tape you found in that VCR, it isn't mine.
Scully: Good, because I put it back in that drawer with all those other videos that aren't yours.

Random trivia: In the original script, Michelle (the nurse who is attacked) was a lesbian.

Yeah, this episode was...not good. I'm way behind in the S2 rewatch, so think I'll probably skip this one. I do love Monster of the Week's take on it (http://www.shaenon.com/monsteroftheweek/2013/03/15/03152013/) though, cleanses the palate. :)

Scully to Mulder: "You believe in ghost everything else!"

EXACTLY.

That was a terrible episode on so many levels.

I love Teryl Rothery but you're right. It's a truly terrible episode. I think this is only the third time I've watched it--and NEVER AGAIN.

Mulder's dismissive attitude toward "ghost rape" is understandable except when you consider that Agent Spooky believes in "ghost everything else" as the Monster of the Week writer points out in their instructional video: Elderly Ghost Rape Know Your Rights. That was a classic, even for them.

Creepy old people hopped on magic mushrooms. Cultural stereotyping. An apparent cure for Alzheimer's that no one seems interested in pursuing further. Exploding bathrooms. Angry ghosts.

And finally, an ending where no coherent explanation, paranormal or otherwise, is even hinted at by the writers.

Nope, not a good one at all. This season had more clunkers than I remembered. Lots of good eps coming up, though.

I wish I had my icon of this ep!

What a horrible nursing home, both in surroundings and the way people are treated.

Given DD's real life antics, all the Mulder/porn jokes and references in this show have lost any humor they had. (Not that I found it humorous in the first place.)

Come on, writers. Can we ever have any consistency on this show? Here's Mulder dismissing the "entity rape" thing right offhand, when that's not any more bizarre than the zillion other things he chases after.

Wait, there were two separate things? Ghosts and also the spirit entities of the two old guys? When Dorothy's seeing the Creepy Old Ghost Men and shooing them away from Scully, Scully didn't sense anything. Best not to question it, right?

Like we don't question the fact that there's a building full of residents but there are never employees around to ever be of any help.

Ugh, water nightmares. I have them all the time. (I hope I don't after watching this late at night!)

I remember the actor who played Gung from M*A*S*H!

I did love the artwork Leo painted on the wall. Hm, I wonder if there's info on that somewhere?

Other than that, meh.

"Thank you for sharing."

Aw, it's that building I've seen in pretty much every Vancouver-shot show I've seen. But most of all I remember it from a show that nobody knows because it only had 13 episodes.

Mushrooms on hamburgers? Is that a thing?

Putting "mushroom burgers" into my search engine yielded 1,600,000+ entries. In the USA we put a lots of things on our hamburgers and steaks. We also grow mushroom into jumbo sizes we call portobellos and turn them into literal mushroom burgers.

What was the show with only 13 episodes?

Giant mushrooms sound good for making filled mushrooms. Gah, now I'm hungry.

The show was Three.
