The X-Files Love Month

xf_is_love is a month-long multimedia celebration of X-Files where each participant claims a date and then posts some new X-Files related fanworks (which can be fic, graphics, icons, vids, podfic, essays, a memoir of your days in the X-Files fandom, or pretty much anything as long as it's new and original) on that day. You can do as little or as much as you want - the day is yours!

You don't even need a Livejournal account to participate. If you have a Twitter-acoount, you can use that to post to the community, or the mods can post on your behalf. And if you just want to comment on the entries, anonymous commenting is allowed, or you can log in using any social media account that supports OpenID (for example, Dreamwidth).

This year will be a special anniversary edition to celebrate the pilot episode, which aired September 10, 1993. The Love Month will be a few days longer than usual, running from the anniversary of the pilot, to Mulder's birthday on October 13. Besides the usual claim-a-day fest (no episode claiming this year), my partner in crime wendelah1 and I have also planned some other activities, which will be announced later.

How To Sign Up

1) Just comment to this post with your name and the posting date you want (and also a second preference, in case your first choice has already been taken.
2) You will be notified to confirm your day (or your backup day). Make sure you join the community so that you can post on your day.
3) Go forth and create.
4) Post on the day you have been assigned.

First, thanks and big hugs to all who have signed up since my last mod post!

There are still four days left unclaimed, so if you feel inspired or know someone who might still want to participate, there is still a chance. But in all, we're looking pretty good for three weeks of celebrating The X-Files. In the meanwhile, how about getting into mood by browsing through the previous years' archives to see if there have been any gems that you might have missed. And remember to leave feedback to the creators - it's what keeps the fandom alive.

We're shaking up things a bit again this year. Because the poll was pretty equally divided on doing the episode claiming or justa free-for-all, we'll be doing both, meaning that you can either claim an episode to show love to, or do something generic. I only ask that if you decide not to claim an episode, please avoid doing episode tag fics or icons from one specific episode.

We had smaller participation this time than on previous years, but what we lacked in quantity was, as always, made up in quality. Here is a list of all the works produced this year - go and give people feedback, because that's what keep the fandom alive.

Because of the popularity of the Love Month last two years, this year I'm again allowing two people per day. Notice that this year were going themeless, so there will be no claiming of episodes or anything, and you can freely choose the subject of your fanworks.

The Love Month is now over and I would like to thank everyone who participated, either as a contributor or a watcher (and to apologise for being a slightly absent mod due to various RL things).

It's only few more days until June and a month of X-Files loving, but we still have few more empty days to fill and plenty of unclaimed episodes, so I'm opening the table for second claims like last year.

In other words, if you want you can now claim a second episode and date. I would prefer if the completely empty days were filled first, but like before, you can also claim a day that has only one contributor. The episode must, of course, be one that hasn't been claimed yet.

Also, since I'll be moving this weekend, I might not be able to confirm your claims until Monday,I am currently without regular internet access, it may take me a few days to confirm your your claims, so you might want to check the comments to see if the day/episode you want has already been taken.

My apologies for disappearing for a month, but various real life things came up. Since it's too late to run this thing in April (plus I'll be rather busy next month myself), let's try the whole poll thing again :)
