Happy Halloween, X-Philes from the future. Just a quick reminder that tomorrow, October 31, is our free-for-all day. If you're on the other side of the planet from me, that's actually today. Time zones break my brain.

You may post fanfic, fanvids, fanart, icons, graphics, fanmixes, podfic, pictures of your Black Oil cosplay costume from SDCC, photos of anything of yours that's XF fandom related, preferably with some explanatory commentary, however brief. You can also post your fandom memoir, and/or meta about the series. The only restriction is that the work be original and not posted elsewhere. After tomorrow, naturally you may re-post your creations anywhere you like.

You may post as many times as you wish. Any contribution is welcome. If all you have finished is a drabble or a 155 word fic, post it. If you have three icons completed and you'd hoped to get twenty-five done, post the three. We'll love them.

Really large graphics should probably be re-sized and posted with a link to the original. Alternatively, they could go behind a cut for those poor unfortunates like myself with less than speedy internet connections.

rustingwillpowr that the chatroom at X-Files Universe is available for anyone who wants to try a live chat there. They're picking our season two episodes for their Saturday rewatch dates during October, too. X-Philes in Solidarity!

Today is the last day to claim the last remaining date—October 2—as your date.

ALL DAYS HAVE BEEN CLAIMED. Since people do drop out, leave a comment on the wait list if you'd still like a day.

Tomorrow is the last day to sign up for the First Annual X-Files-is-Love Halloween Candy Exchange. Comments are screened.

The X-Files is Love!

This was fairly popular last year, so let's try it again.

This is a prompt meme/comment ficathon, but with a little twist - a prompt meme where you ca prompt all those fanworks that you wish existed.

A vid to that song that decribes Mulder to a tee, a tag to that episode that left you unsatisfied, that perfect crossover fandom, an artwork of that scene in that fic that you love... The prompts can be for any medium, and as generic or as specific as you want. You can even ask for recs, if what you want to see is something that you think must already exist.

There are no quarantees that your wish will be fullfilled, but there's always a chance someone will be inspired to create that fanwork you've always craved, or maybe it has already been done, and someone can point you to it.

If you decide to fill someone's wish, you can either post it directly to the comments here at any time, or wait until your posting day. Either way, we'll be collecting all the fills here to the masterlist at the end of the fest.

The X-Files is Love Month - October 1-31

Onward. Since the majority wanted to re-watch season two, that's just what we're going to do. Like last year, the posts will go up at one minute past midnight PST because that time works for the mods. If this isn't a great time for your timezone, remember, this isn't a live rewatch. That being said, if anyone wants to try to do a live watch with me, PM me. We'll work it out!

Damn those time zones anyway! Why can't we all move to a fangirl commune? But I digress... This year Ruuger and I are alternating days, except for when we don't.

The people have spoken and we're on for October!

The X-Files is Love is a month-long multimedia celebration of The X-Files where each participant claims a date and then posts some new X-Files related fanworks on their day. This can be fic, graphics, icons, vids, podfic, essays, a memoir of your days in the X-Files fandom, or pretty much anything as long as it's new and original. You can do as little or as much as you want - the day is yours!

You don't even need a Livejournal account to participate. If you have a Twitter account, for example, you can use that to join and post to the community. If you'd rather, the mods can post on your behalf. And if you just want to comment on the entries, anonymous commenting is allowed, or you can log in using any social media account that supports OpenID (for example, Dreamwidth).

This year

xf_is_love will run from October 1-31, culminating with a free-for-all on Halloween. Besides the usual claim-a-day fest (no episode claiming this year),

ruuger and I have also planned some other activities, including another mini-rewatch, which will be announced later.

How To Sign Up

1) Just comment to this post with your name and the posting date you want. Include a second preference, in case your first choice has already been taken.

Anyone up for doing The X-Files is Love Month? In addition to the daily posts of art, fic, podfic, meta, cartoons, icons, personal anecdotes, photos of your Scully cosplay and X-Files collectibles, and anything else I've left out inadvertently, our tentative plans include a mini-rewatch, a 155 word episode tag challenge, and maybe even a trivia contest with prizes, that is, assuming we can figure out how to do an online trivia challenge...

Is September too soon? Is October too late? SPEAK UP now. EDIT: We're leaning toward October to give people more time. Plus we could end with a Halloween free-for-all of scary episodes and fanworks!

Should we rewatch just one season? Maybe season two, in honor of the 20th Anniversary of Season Two! Or do one episode per season, like we did last year? Yes to the two movies or forget about 'em?

Assuming there's interest, the signup post should be up by Monday at the latest.

Today is 10-13-2013, Fox Mulder's 52nd birthday. This final day has been designated a free-for-all.

You may post anything, as long as it's related to The X-Files: fanfic, podfic, graphics, fanart, icons, gifs, fanmixes, fandom memoirs, as well as photos of your complete collection of X-Files tie-in novels, your Black Oil Alien cosplay costume, your Scully raincoat, your Mulder tie collection, your defunct geocities website, and that yearly pilgrimage you still make to Vancouver. I've noticed that there's a weird bug that some people can't post even though they are members, and rejoining seems to do the trick. Also, the community is on moderated posting, so don't worry if your post doesn't appear in the community right away.

Voting for the episode for the free-for-all day, October 13, remains open. I'm a little surprised no one suggested we watch one of the movies. Okay, maybe not. Currently there's a tie, so we need more votes. Or more nominations. Or both.

The Fanworks Request post is still open for business. No guarantees but it can't hurt to ask. I asked for a post-ep for "Blood" where Mulder goes berserk and starts killing at random.

I realize that prompt has a low probability of being filled.

This year, to celebrate The X-Files 20th anniversary, in addition to our usual daily members' posts, we are doing a mini-rewatch marathon: two episodes a season, one MOW and one myth-arc, plus the pilot, in 33 days.

To make it easier on us this time around,
